What is AgentBacker?
It gives an AI agent a pass that shows a real, ID-checked person stands behind it. That person has signed a liability clause.
Is it live?
Not yet. We're pre-launch, and for now we only serve the United States. Nothing on the site is an offer or a contract.
How does a person get verified?
They complete a government ID check, once. Each ID document can back only one AgentBacker account.
What happens to my ID?
The ID check is run by a specialist identity-verification provider, not by vendors. Vendors never see your ID document. They get only your name and your signed contract, and only for the vendors you approve. Exactly what we keep and for how long will be in our Privacy Policy, published at launch.
What is the person agreeing to?
They accept responsibility for what their agents do under the pass, until the pass is revoked. The clause wording is still under legal review.
Can my agent approve a pass on its own?
No. The agent shows you a code and a link, and you approve. The agent never approves for you.
Can vendors track me across services?
Each vendor gets its own private ID for you, so we don't give vendors a shared ID to link you by. Before you approve, we tell you which vendors get your name and when.
Does the vendor get my name?
Yes. The vendor receives your name and signed liability contract at sign-up, or when a card is added if it doesn't require names at sign-up. You can read the sample agreement.
What does a vendor get to skip?
Vendors that accept the pass can drop card, phone and GitHub-age checks for people we back. For agent sign-ups, the pass replaces the text-message code.
Can a vendor limit or ban people?
Yes. A vendor sets how many accounts one person may hold and can ban a person from its own service, enforced through that person's private ID, even on new emails and new agents. A ban at one vendor stays at that vendor. One vendor's report never revokes the pass anywhere else.
What happens if something goes wrong?
The vendor already holds your name and signed agreement. It can also request a separate signed record of pass activity and check it offline against our published keys. It's evidence, but on its own it doesn't meet Visa's Compelling Evidence 3.0, and we haven't checked other card networks.
Do you see my card number? What does it cost?
We don't see or store card numbers. We haven't set prices. Vendor pricing is planned per person admitted.
Vendors
What does a vendor receive when a backed agent signs up?
You receive the person's name and signed liability contract at sign-up, or when a card is added if you don't require names at sign-up.
Do we have to change our bot protection?
No. Keep your existing blocks. Agents with an AgentBacker pass get through, and everything else is handled the way it is today.
Does AgentBacker block traffic on our site?
No. Our detection gives you a score. What you do with it is always your call.
What does it cost?
You pay only on success, per person admitted. There's nothing to pay for agents that never arrive.
Can we set our own limits?
Yes. You set the account limit per person, and a ban at your service stays at your service.
Why would a vendor need this?
We collected published figures on AI agent traffic, the pages agents reach, and rising bot abuse in a short report. Download the report (PDF).
